Steve Willey
is a command officer and life member of the
Fair Oaks Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department
in Fairfax County. He has been the recipient
of the Fair Oaks Volunteer Firefighter of
the Year and Fairfax County Officer of the
Year and the Fair Oaks Fire & Rescue
departments Chief’s award in 1990, 1992 and
1994, respectively. He has also been a
firefighter instructor for over fifteen
years teaching area jurisdictions basic and
advanced firefighting, rescue, instructor
and officer level classes. |

Mr. Willey is Manager
of Construction Administration for the DC office of
Ellerbe Becket, an international architectural,
engineering and construction firm. He has over 22
years experience in the design and construction of
renovation and new projects all over the United
States. His experience includes Hospitals,
Laboratories and other mission critical facilities
that require redundant and failsafe operation
regardless of environmental conditions.

Experience
Steve has been an
emergency medical technician for over 25 years and a
firefighter for over 17 years. He has commanded
engine companies, heavy rescue companies and
ambulances on emergency calls in one of the busiest
jurisdictions in the country. During the September
11th terrorist attacks, Steve participated in the
emergency response of the Pentagon, arriving within
4 hours of the event and concluding after eight
days.
Steve is a member of
the Fairfax County Urban Search and Rescue Team
(Virginia Task Force 1) since its inception in 1989
as a Rescue Specialist and Heavy Rigging Specialist
and has been deployed on 7 missions including the
OKC bombing, the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, the 1999
Earthquake in Taiwan and the Attack of the Pentagon
in 2001
